Kaufman Robotic Labeler Series

Kaufman Offers Three Labeler Models You Can Choose From: KRL1, KRL1R, and KRL1V

At Kaufman Engineered Systems, our robotic labeling solutions deliver precision, traceability, and integration readiness — whether you simply need to apply labels or require full verification and data capture for load tracking. With Kaufman’s robotic labelers, you get:

  • Seamless integration: All models share the same operator interface and hardware backbone, making upgrades or retrofits easier without major rework.
  • Speed + reliability: Built for continuous production environments with minimal manual intervention.
  • Full-line automation partnership: Combine labeling with KES’s other automation — palletizing, stretch wrapping, conveyors, and load handling — for a true “single-source” end-of-line solution.

Our labeling lineup is built around three core models designed to meet varying levels of quality control and traceability needs.

Kaufman Robotic Labeler Series

KRL1 — Basic Label Application

The entry-level model in the KES Robotic Labeler Series.

  • The entry-level model in the KES Robotic Labeler Series.
  • Its function: place labels accurately and consistently on cases, trays, or pallets as they exit a packaging or palletizing line.
  • Ideal for applications where applying a label is sufficient and no further automated verification is required.
  • Offers the same ease-of-use and reliability as all KES labelers, with a user-friendly interface and seamless integration into a broader KES automation line.

Use-case: high-speed lines where labeling speed and consistency are the priority, and downstream manual scanning or verification suffices.

KRL1R — Label + Read / Track

Basic label application plus reading to make sure the label is placed correctly and is legible.

  • Adds a “read and track” function to the basic label application.
  • After placing the label, the system reads the label (e.g., barcode or other identifier) and logs the placement — ensuring that the label has actually been placed (no dropped or skipped labels).
  • Provides an audit trail to confirm that each unit load has been labeled as intended.
  • Useful for operations requiring documentation that labeling occurred, but not necessarily verifying exact label content.

Use-case: facilities where compliance or internal SOPs demand confirmation of label placement (for example, before pallet stretch-wrapping or shipping), but label content verification may occur later in the process (e.g., via a warehouse management system).

KRL1V — Label + Read/Track + Content Verification

The KRL1V includes all the functionality of the first two models and adds verification that ties back to the facility’s load tracking system, ensuring that the correct label has been applied to the correct load.

  • The “full-feature” labeling solution. In addition to placing and reading/tracking the label, the KRL1V verifies that the correct label has been applied.
  • This means the system checks that the barcode or identifier matches the intended load — reducing risk of mislabeling or mis-shipped loads.
  • Fully compatible with facilities’ load-tracking or labeling software and data systems. This tight integration supports end-to-end traceability, from packaging to palletizing to shipping.
  • Once verified, the system logs the result and can trigger error handling or operator alerts if a mismatch is detected.

Use-case: high-compliance industries, high-volume distribution centers, or any facility where mislabeling carries high cost or risk (e.g., regulatory compliance, recalls, inventory accuracy, or shipment traceability).

What You Can Expect from Kaufman Robotic Labelers

A single FANUC robotic labeler in the Kaufman series offers impressive versatility

  • It can pick and apply multiple types of labels in a single run.
  • It’s capable of applying labels to adjacent sides of a load, giving you coverage on multiple faces in one pass.
  • It supports double-stack labeling — labeling two-tiered loads in one cycle.
  • It uses a scanner to verify label placement in real time, ensuring accuracy.

In addition, our robotic labeling systems include a suite of features engineered for performance and maintainability:

  • Integrated label verification ensures not only that the label was placed, but that the printed data and barcodes meet quality and data-accuracy standards.
  • The system can handle multiple label sizes at different heights and across multiple sides of a load, giving you full flexibility for variant SKUs or promotional wraps.
  • Label pick locations are designed for clean, unobstructed access, making it safer and easier for operators to load label rolls.
  • Printer modules are easy to reach — convenient access for maintenance, changeouts, and troubleshooting — to minimize line downtime.

For 80 years, Kaufman Engineered Systems has provided world-class automation solutions for packaging and material handling. Our robotic labeler is backed by our dedicated engineering and service teams, ensuring smooth integration and long-term performance.
